Clarborough and Welham IT Group is seeking to relaunch classes in January 2022 in both of their traditional weekly timeslots: Tuesdays at 1.30pm to 3.00pm and Wednesdays at 10.00am to 11.30am. These will run for four weeks from 11th January at a cost of £25.00 for either set of four weekly sessions in Clarborough Village Hall, Main Street, Clarborough DN22 9LN. The hall is fully accessible to those with mobility issues and has ample car parking and free Wi-Fi for class members, which provides a platform for teaching online skills such as email and effective searching.
The group has suffered significantly from COVID lockdowns such that it needs to start afresh. Classes focus on Windows 10 users but with one eye on the emerging Windows 11 release. It is worth repeating, however, Microsoft’s commitment to continue support for Windows 10 until Autumn 2025 – so plenty of time to get up-to-speed! If you’ve never touched a computer, why not go along – you can use one of their laptops and get friendly introductions to it all as well as enjoy the social side of the group. Regular members will recognise the light-hearted approach with classes always starting with a Gardeners’ Question Time, which provides opportunities for members to set class topic priorities.
Classes starting in January will focus on basic skills such as effective use of keyboard, mouse and touchpad before going on to explore how to keep yourself and your computer secure, particularly when going online with emails and web-searching. The group also provides free installation of LibreOffice and Gimp image editor for new members.
Finally, are you currently looking to get back into work – children moving into secondary school or for other reasons?
