Clarborough and Welham IT Group recommends Ubuntu Linux as a future-proof and Trump-proof alternative to Windows 11.

With Windows 10 nearing the end of its life and many users finding it impossible to upgrade to Windows 11 without purchasing entirely new hardware, the question arises: ‘What can be done?’

The short answer from Clarborough and Welham IT Group is to attend their session on Saturday 14th June for a hands-on introduction to Ubuntu Linux. The group has used Ubuntu Linux for many years, along with a vast library of open-source (meaning free) applications, making it fully capable of replacing everything Microsoft currently offers.

Ubuntu Linux itself is open-source, so if users are able to download and install it on their existing Windows 10 PC or laptop, the entire upgrade process can be completed at no cost. For those who find the installation process too complex, the group can recommend a local IT specialist who can carry out the task economically.

In addition, as Ubuntu Linux is developed by London-based Canonical Ltd, it is unaffected by international tariffs – making it ‘Trump-tariff proof’.

The class offers a hands-on introduction to Ubuntu Linux using one of the group’s own laptops. It takes place on Saturday 14th June at Clarborough Village Hall (DN22 9LN). Enrol from 12.30pm, and the class runs from 1.00pm to 2.30pm. Admission is £5.00.

Book by calling 01777 700918 or email clarboroughwelham@gmail.com. Places are limited, so attendees are asked to book by Monday 9th June.

Greg will be attending Clarborough’s Table-top Sale on Saturday 7th June (9.30am to 11.30am), offering a preview of Ubuntu Linux in the Village Hall.
