Christmas is coming!

Even though we are in the middle of a heatwave, with record temperatures and a shortage of rain, the Worksop Light Operatic Society would like to risk the wrath of all readers by pointing out that it is little more than 100 shopping days to Christmas.
Now is your chance to get in the Christmas spirit early, and perhaps solve a present problem or two as well. The Worksop Light Operatic Society will be getting the festive season off with a bang, with their production of ‘Nativity, the Musical’.

This happy, seasonal musical has been adapted for the stage by the creator of the popular film, and tells the story of the children of St Bernadette’s school as they excitedly prepare to stage a musical version of the Nativity story. However, an unexpected complication occurs when their teacher, Mr Maddens, promises that a Hollywood producer is coming to see their play to turn it into a film.

By going to see the show, you can find out how he, his crazy teaching assistant Mr Poppy, and the hilarious children struggle to make everyone’s Christmas wish come true. Featuring the favourite hits from the film, including Sparkle and Shine, Nazareth and She’s the Brightest Star, it will provide a feel-good, funny way to get into the Christmas spirit.

The show will be performed from Wednesday 2nd to Saturday 5th November at the Acorn Theatre, Queen Street, Worksop at 7.00pm each night and with a matinee at 2.00pm on the Saturday. Early Bird tickets cost £16.00 until 30th September, after which all tickets will be £18.00.

Booking is already open: online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/acorntheatre/e-pybmka, by calling the Acorn Theatre (01909 501817 on Wednesdays from 12.00pm to 3.00pm only), or from any Society member.
