Carers’ champion gets award

Trevor Clower, for years an unpaid carer himself, knew first-hand how difficult it is for carers to find the services they need that would help them care successfully. His answer was to design the wonderful Carers’ Roadshow which has now earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at the Virtual Nottingham Live Awards on Thursday 3rd June, a well-deserved accolade for all his hard work.
Trevor has been running the roadshow throughout Nottinghamshire since 2013, giving unpaid carers and service providers the opportunity to meet and find out what help is available. Unfortunately, the funding for the Roadshow ran out some time ago and Trevor funded it himself for a couple of years then, with the advent of COVID-19, decided to go online where, potentially, he has much greater footfall.
In the relatively short time the Roadshow has been online, Trevor has acquired 49 stalls each with a short video outlining its services and has had almost 2,300 visitors to the site. Services range through advocacy, cancer support, dementia, Healthwatch and much more. Stalls are being added on a weekly basis so if you’re an unpaid carer in need of support, keep looking regularly. You’re certain to find something soon. If you provide a service for carers, one sure way to get your message out there is to contact Trevor and ask to be included in the Roadshow. If you want to browse the stalls and find out more about Trevor and the Roadshow, go to It has worked well for the Wednesday Group.
If you care for someone with dementia or you yourself have a diagnosis, you may find help through the Wednesday Group or the Carers’ Group. For more information about either group contact Jan on 01777 709974 or email
