The Worksop Miners Welfare Band is proud to announce a new chapter in its long and distinguished history. A new conductor, Bob Wofinden, has recently taken to the stand, bringing with him renewed energy and passion as the band looks to the future with enthusiasm and ambition.
As one of the oldest brass bands in the country, with roots dating back to 1832, the band is now preparing for a major milestone – its bicentenary in 2032. In the run-up to this historic occasion, members are working hard to rebuild and strengthen the band, and are reaching out to the local community for support.
Whether someone is a seasoned brass player, a lapsed musician thinking about picking up an instrument again, or a complete beginner with enthusiasm to learn, there is a place for everyone. The band offers a friendly, supportive environment, rich in tradition and strong in community spirit – and free instrument loan is also available.
With fresh ideas and infectious enthusiasm, the new conductor is already making a positive impact – but more players are needed to continue this progress.
