Newark-based Beaumond House Hospice Care will lead the creation of a new End of Life Referral Hub and expand its Hospice at Home service across North Nottinghamshire. The development follows the award of a new contract from NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board, delivered as part of the North Nottinghamshire End of Life Care Alliance.
From April 2026, the service will expand further within Newark and Sherwood, where it currently supports 200 patients a year, and extend into Mansfield, Ashfield and Bassetlaw. This growth will enable Beaumond House to support an additional 1,000 patients each year, helping more people to receive end of life care in their place of choice. A key part of the expansion is the creation of a dedicated End of Life Referral Hub, designed to ensure that people are not left struggling to navigate care at one of the most difficult times in their lives. The hub will provide a single point of access for end of life care across North Nottinghamshire, offering central oversight of referrals and coordinated, personalised support.
The hub is supported by £1.8 million from Macmillan Cancer Support’s End-of-Life Care Fund. This funding is intended to help services respond quickly to changing needs and ensure more people can be cared for with comfort, dignity and compassion, closer to home. The service will operate seven days a week, supporting patients whose needs may deteriorate rapidly in the final days and weeks of life, while maintaining choice and continuity of care. The expansion also secures the continuation and growth of the Butterfly Project, a volunteer-led care service delivered by Your CVS. The project will continue to support patients and families across Newark and Sherwood and will expand to cover Mansfield, Ashfield and Bassetlaw, offering practical and emotional support alongside clinical care.

Hospice care isn’t fully funded by the NHS, so we have to raise £2.2 million each year to cover the difference between funding and costs. Money raised through donations, our shops and support from local businesses will remain vital for us to continue providing care and support to patients and their families when they need it most.”
