Bassetlaw Pride Sculpture is organised through Harworth and Bircotes Pride; giving an opportunity for the Bassetlaw LGBT+ community and allies to become involved in making celebratory sculptures. The project has been made possible by Arts and Heritage Funding from Bassetlaw District Council as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The ‘DRAG-on’ is based upon the idea of a Chinese Dragon and it will be part of the Parades at the three Pride events in Bassetlaw this July: Harworth and Bircotes, Worksop and Retford.
Thanks to local youth groups and people attending the project workshops, the DRAG-on is now coming to life.
The project will continue later this year with a second sculpture that will be a permanent work celebrating diversity in people and nature to be sited in Bassetlaw. More news to follow.
