Bassetlaw Friends of Cycling litter-pick

by | 18 May 2022 | Hobbies, Worksop

There was a very successful community litter-pick on 25th March of the National Cycle Route 6 at Sandhill Lake in Worksop. This was organised by local Sustrans volunteer, Steve Walton, supported by Bassetlaw Cycle Champion John Shephard and other volunteers who are members of Facebook group Bassetlaw Friends of Cycling. The group is used to publicise / organise group activities, such as this litter pick, including led rides and cycle route maintenance activities.

Many thanks to Bassetlaw District Council who provided the equipment and bags as part of the Spring Clean initiative. They said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Bassetlaw Friends of Cycling for helping us to keep Bassetlaw tidy by litter-picking.

“If others would like to get involved and organise their own event, you can register your Spring Clean now by filling in our form at www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/springclean.

“Once you register, we can provide you with gloves, litter pickers, high visibility vests and rubbish bags. Following your litter-pick we will arrange a suitable pick-up point to collect your bags of rubbish.”

If you are interested in volunteering with Sustrans, contact them through www.sustrans.org.uk.

There is also a Bassetlaw Cycle Champion Facebook page where Councillor John Shephard publicises all things relevant to local cycling.
