Bassetlaw Community Voluntary Service (BCVS) are pleased to announce lots of exciting plans to promote and encourage volunteering across the district, including two recruitment events during Volunteers’ Week 2022.
Last month, the fantastic news was announced that BCVS, along with eight partner organisations, have been awarded £220,000 from Arts Council England to support the development of community volunteering opportunities.
In partnership with Bassetlaw Action Centre, Junction Arts, Voluntary Action Doncaster, South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation, Rhubarb Farm, Inspire Learning, Mansfield CVS and Centre Place, the project – named POV (Points of View) – will focus on young volunteers, and aims to help young people gain valuable skills and feel part of the community through the power of social action.
Andria Birch, CEO, Bassetlaw CVS said: “We are very pleased to be awarded funding for the Point of View (POV) Volunteer Voices project. Nine fantastic VCS and arts organisations will work together with young people to create new opportunities across Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Doncaster and Mansfield. We know this work is needed now more than ever.
“If you are or know a local young person who would like to get involved in shaping the voluntary, community and arts organisations of the future please get in touch.”
The two events that are being organised to allow local groups and charities to showcase their work and advertise their volunteering opportunites will be taking place on the following dates:
- Retford Buttermarket: Wednesday 1st June, 10.30am to 12.30pm
- Worksop The Bridge Skills Hub: Tuesday 7th June, 1.00pm to 3.00pm
Both events are free to attend, so if you are interested in volunteering for a local charity just turn up on the day. Everyone is welcome.
