Aurora Wellbeing Centres

by | 1 November 2025 | Community Focus, Health, Local Charity, Support Group, Worksop

Aurora is a local cancer charity based in the Old Library Building in Worksop, offering support to people across Bassetlaw who are living with cancer or a long-term health condition. The centre provides a welcoming, safe space for anyone seeking companionship, a sense of community, or the opportunity to try something new.

Spotlight on exercise in the Curve

Exercise is beneficial for everyone, but for those with health conditions such as cancer, it can often feel daunting. Aurora offers guided sessions to help participants prepare for surgery or recover post-operation. The Curve area is open to all, not just those with a cancer diagnosis, and provides a variety of classes to suit all abilities. Pre-booking is essential on 01909 470985.

Remembrance Sunday at Aurora

Aurora will once again open for the Remembrance Service on Memorial Avenue on Sunday 9th November. The Tearooms and charity shop will be open from 9.30am to 12.30pm, serving hot drinks, bacon sandwiches and homemade cakes. In the Heritage Hub, visitors can view a new exhibition titled In Their Footsteps, which tells the moving story of Corporal Albert Henry Blake from Upper Langwith. Albert’s story traces his journey from a peaceful childhood to his death at age 21 in 1944. Through school reports, service records, photographs and letters to his parents, the exhibition honours his bravery and sacrifice.

Aurora is also inviting the community to share stories of family members who served in the First or Second World War. Memories, photos and letters will help preserve these legacies for future generations. To contribute, email heritage@aurorawellbeing.org.uk or visit the centre.
