Aurora is a local cancer charity based in the Old Library Building in Worksop, offering support to people in Bassetlaw living with cancer or a long-term health condition. The centre provides a welcoming, safe space for anyone looking for companionship, a sense of community, or the opportunity to try something new.
Aurora also offers a wide range of wellbeing and heritage activities, open to all. Its charity shop stocks a variety of quality pre-loved items, and Valerie’s Tearooms serve home-cooked food at affordable prices — creating a warm, friendly place for everyone to enjoy.
Spotlight on: Summer in the Hub
This summer, families are invited to drop into the Aurora Heritage Hub at the Old Library in Worksop for free, family-friendly activities that bring local history to life. Young visitors can also pick up an Aurora Explorer Pack, filled with fun tools and prompts to help them discover hidden treasures around the Hub.

Back in Time for School
Tuesday 12th August, 10.00am to 12.00pm
An immersive session exploring life in a Victorian classroom, complete with a period lesson plan and retro playtime using vintage toys and games. Suitable for ages seven to 11. £3.00 per child.
Explore and Draw
Tuesday 19th August, 10.00am to 12.00pm
Young historians and artists can handle historical objects and let their imaginations run wild through sketching, colouring or scribbling their own interpretations. Suitable for a range of ages. £3.00 per child.
Torso Story Time
Tuesday 26th August, 10.00am to 12.00pm
This session introduces the famous Worksop Torso through Greek mythology and ancient history, followed by crafts including leaf crown making and drawing yourself as a Greek god. Suitable for ages seven to 11. £4.00 per child.
All three sessions can be booked at a discounted cost of £8.00 per child. Contact reception at Aurora to reserve a place.
Children and Family Services
Aurora Wellbeing’s Children and Family Service offers emotional support for children affected by the cancer diagnosis of someone close to them. Children can access up to 12 free one-to-one sessions with a qualified art therapist, tailored to their age and needs. Parents and carers also receive guidance, emotional support, and practical resources to help support their child.
