Aurora is a cancer charity providing support in the local area for people living with cancer or a long-term health condition.
Unfortunately, they have had a spate of mindless vandalism recently with external windows smashed which they have had to repair at considerable cost to the charity. This has meant diverting funds for repairs which were earmarked for future projects helping the local people of Bassetlaw.
They have had a terrific response from the general public, cancer clients and volunteers who have offered to help Aurora with the installation of additional CCTV around the centre, which will hopefully deter this wanton vandalism. So, thank you everyone!
Spotlight on…. The Charity Shop
Did you know Aurora’s charity shop stocks a wide range of quality new and used clothes, shoes and homewares at affordable prices? Utilising the old library oak shelving, they have possibly the most extensive selection of books in the area too! The shop is entirely run by volunteers so all the money raised from sales help us to provide their services.
Why not go along to the centre to look for a bargain and then enjoy a piece of homemade cake in Valerie’s Tearooms? The shop is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.00pm. They are very grateful for donations of good quality items but unfortunately cannot accept large items of furniture or electrical goods.
