Membership has grown at Worksop Wonders WI and has now reached the capacity of their meeting venue, the Thievesdale Community Centre. As such there is now a waiting list for membership, so any potential new members must contact the group before attending.
There is no monthly meeting for the WI in August, but a group picnic will be held at Thoresby Hall. Meanwhile, the book club, craft club and the walking group are proving very popular and successful.
Worksop Wonders WI aims to offer a large range of activities so there is something for every taste and interest. Members can attend Nottingham Federation events as well as events organised by other local WI groups.
During the past few months, members have joined and enjoyed a variety of activities organised by Nottingham Federation WI. These has included French Cookery and Willow Weaving classes and a visit to Welbeck Artisan Cookery school. A day trip to Thornbridge Hall Gardens and Bakewell is planned for August.
Worksop Wonders WI members have also joined other local WI groups for an evening at Sheffield dog races and a visit to the National Arboretum.
For the next meeting on Wednesday 14th September at 7.00pm, the guest speaker will be Gary Cox. Gary will take members on a journey down memory lane talking about the history of Woolworths.
Worksop Wonders WI meets at Thievesdale Community Centre at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month (except August).
