1208 (Warsop) Squadron has been very busy these past few months, with cadets and volunteers attending summer camps, achieving new badges and celebrations.

May saw the historical event of the Coronation of HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camilla. 1208 Squadron celebrated this event with cadets, volunteers, and their families by throwing a party, lots of games, a quiz, a tombola, food and of course a cake! This was a great way of the families getting involved with the Squadron and seeing what their young people get up to.

The summer meant that there were more camps for cadets to attend. 1208 has travelled to RAF Valley, RAF Halton, RAF Wittering, RAF Syerston and RAF Fairford as well as the annual Trent Wing annual multi-activity camp. RAF Wittering and RAF Syerston were the National Air and Space Camp; CWO Newton got to meet cadets from all over the RAF Air Cadets.

Sgt Aston and Cpl Dau attended RAF Fairford’s Royal International Air Tattoo for a week alongside FS Taylor who attended for two weeks; this is again a national camp and throughout all camps cadets have gained new experiences, achievements, and friends. Cpl Coupe even got up in a Chinook helicopter.

A big achievement for CWO Newton was to travel to Nijmegen for the International Four Day Marches. She travelled from RAF Brize Norton on a C17 Globemaster to march 100 miles over four days. She came home with her Nijmegen medal and has achieved the highest road marching award with the Squadron.

If you are in year 8 to 17 years old, you could join the Squadron and do all this and more! Email 1208@rafac.mod.gov.uk for more information. The next intake is from 4th October.
