On Sunday 20th July, Whiston Parish Church Cricket Club held its annual Charity Day in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. A bumper raffle and some top quality auction items (including Rotherham United signed shirts and a pair of batting gloves signed by the Indian opener Jaiswal) resulted in an excellent total of £2,350 being raised.
A select Junior XI took on a Parish Belles XI and it was the Belles team who ran out winners, claiming the Natalie Maw memorial trophy. Thanks to a team from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue who did a bucket collection on the day but were prevented from playing due to the rain.
