Winthrop needs volunteers

Winthrop Gardens and Tea Rooms is seeking new volunteers to help them manage a very welcome demand for their services since their re-opening.
The hugely popular community resource in Wickersley, owned by the Parish Council and run by a team of more than 60 volunteers, was closed for over 14 months during the pandemic but is now back to normal and delighted to be open to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week between 10.30am and 4.00pm.
Councillor Sue Ellis, Chair of the Winthrop Committee, said: “We are delighted that Winthrop is busier than we expected as people return to visiting and socialising as the lockdown restrictions are eased. But this has put pressure on our ‘Tea Room Team’ as we manage this additional demand whilst following our rigorous COVID safety and security measures. So we are seeking to recruit more volunteers – particularly to support us in our Tea Rooms.”
