WING – the Wickersley Neighbourhood Group – meets on Wednesdays during term time at the Barn, Church Lane, Wickersley S66 1ES, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. The group is aimed at elderly or isolated local residents, providing them with an opportunity to socialise.
A variety of activities are planned for June, including a weekly raffle and lottery draw, a shared fish and chip meal, bingo and table games, musical and singing entertainment, and talks from visiting speakers on a range of topics.
Anyone interested in learning more about WING is encouraged to contact the secretary, Anne Hudson, on 01709 542873. She can arrange transport to and from the Barn, with escort helpers available to assist members on and off the community bus.
New members are always welcome, and the group is also keen to hear from anyone willing to volunteer on Wednesday afternoons. Roles include serving refreshments, assisting with activities, or acting as a bus escort on a rota. Whether retired, working part-time, or temporarily unemployed, volunteers would be warmly welcomed – Anne would be delighted to hear from anyone able to help.
