Rotherham’s Christmas Toy Appeal has run for many years. The gifts are donated by local residents, businesses, churches and schools. Due to the current situation, the appeal’s organisers need your help to match the achievements of last year when they helped over 1,700 children receive a gift on Christmas morning, something they would not have received if the Christmas Toy Appeal did not run. The appeal is organised and run by a small charity called Families First which has a bank account and a constituted committee run by dedicated volunteers.
They feel this year the children have suffered a great deal from the lockdown and restrictions. The children have missed school, their family and friends and their support networks. They need to make Christmas a special time for them. Did you know it is less than 100 sleeps until Christmas?
How does it work?
Gifts are requested by professionals working with the families, who know their situations and that the children / young people would receive very little on Christmas morning. The gifts are collected from Families First and taken to the parent / carer so that the parent will give the gift to the child.
Christmas is a time when Rotherham comes together to help Rotherham children less fortunate than many children. This appeal is something Rotherham can be proud of and by working together they can try to help even more families this year.
If you would like to get involved you can pick up a small gift tag from the trees on Parkgate Shopping and purchase a gift from any of the stores at Parkgate Shopping, the gifts can be left in any of the stores. You can also drop off gifts at Voluntary Action Rotherham reception. Other drop off areas may be added at a later stage.
If you need any further information or would like to donate new toys please contact Ann Levick on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07568 396113.
Help them ensure no child in Rotherham goes without this year, spread the word.
