Rotherham will host a 10-day festival of music across the borough this February half-term, as Signals Festival returns for its third year.
Taking place from 14th to 23rd February at venues across the borough, Signals Festival will include free music events, family activities and live performances.
The large-scale youth music festival is a collaboration between Children’s Capital of Culture, Rotherham Music Hub, RMBC Events and local young people.
It will kick off on Friday 14th February with Pathways into Music, a free event at Thomas Rotherham College showcasing careers in the music industry with musicians and industry professionals.
Excitement will build throughout the week as brilliant bands, musicians and DJs pop up daily to give amazing musical performances in unexpected and unusual locations across the borough as part of Pop-Up and Play.
The music festival builds to a crescendo with The Saturday Shindig on 22nd February with the festival hub at All Saints Square featuring performances and free family activities. Rotherham town centre come alive with a new music trail across eight venues (10.00am to 2.00pm). This will be followed by the festival’s yearly talent showcase ‘Amp-Up’ at Rotherham College (2.30pm to 6.30pm) and a special finale performance by Emergence Collective in Rotherham Minster (7.00pm to 8.30pm).
A brand new interactive immersive art installation at Catcliffe Cone will be unveiled on 22nd and 23rd February. The Catcliffe Cone Art Commission features an audio-visual experience created in collaboration with young people from the area exploring the history of the site, the industry and community surrounding this historic monument and the glass making industry in Rotherham since the 18th century.
