Tickhill Together presents Scarecrow Day. For the second year they are including Flowerpots Sculptures too. This was very popular last year. The date is Saturday 5th May. Scarecrows and Sculptures will be ‘on the streets’ from 9.00am to 5.00pm, with judging taking place during the morning. Get your entry forms in quickly to be included on the official route. Forms are available in Castlegate Cards, and the deadline for your entry is Friday 23rd March. The cost of entry is £2.00 for each competition.
On the day there will be free children’s entertainment in the Scout Headquarters, including Punch and Judy and a magic show. Pony rides will be available on Castle Close green and the Community Centre will be open for refreshments during the day. For further details (and for anyone who wants to help or has suggestions for entertainment) please email Sarah Bartram on firstname.lastname@example.org. Or call into Deli28 or Castlegate Cards for a chat!
A much ‘younger’ event is their 40s Day on 9th June, throughout the day. This is only their third 40s event and every year it gets bigger and better. Plans so far include an afternoon tea with a 40s style entertainer in The Tavern, an evening dance with a light supper — again with live entertainment. Tickets will be available from Deli 28 for the afternoon tea and the supper dance, from the beginning of April. Tickets can be pre-booked, with a small deposit (non-returnable) by calling into Deli 28 or calling Janice on 07590 455340.
There will be various displays throughout the village during the day with vintage cars, vintage prams. If you are interested in booking a stall these will be available at various venues in the village.
Last year this event was very successful, with your help it could be even bigger and better this year. If you have any ideas on the 40s theme, and how to make this day a real success — please let the organisers know. Look out for further details nearer the time.
