Local resident Ann Wymer will be skydiving on 16th September in support of Rotherham Hospice and she is appealing for support from fellow Rotherham Life readers. Rotherham Hospice is an independent charity delivering care through a range of services to people affected by terminal illness and their families. The hospice’s staff and volunteers do an amazing job of nursing their patients but also make the time and effort to look after, listen to and comfort the families visiting their loved ones.
The hospice also provides bereavement support — it has a Sunbeams group that works with children who are recently or soon to be bereaved to help them to go through the stages of bereavement with special support, and to remember their loved one in a positive and helpful way.
“I know someone whose father was at the hospice and another person whose children went to the Sunbeams Bereavement Group to help with the loss of their grandad. Both people talk so highly of its staff and volunteers about their never-ending support and compassion. I’m sure there will be lots more people with similar stories,” Ann said.
“Personally, I’m a working mum of three, just about to hit 40 and wanted a challenge. What better than a challenge that helps an amazing charity like the hospice that was there for my friend and her children.
“Support the patients, their families, the children and the staff by getting behind this amazing cause! Or even just have a giggle at the idea of me being pushed from a plane screaming while donating.
“Any donations are welcome through my JustGiving page or text RHSP60 £5 to 70070 (change donation amount as suitable).”
