At last, spring is nearly here and St Bartholomew’s Church is preparing throughout Lent for Good Friday and Easter day, 2nd April. The shops tell us that Sunday 11th March is Mothering Sunday. At St Bartholomew’s, they celebrate the day simply in church by presenting all ladies present with a small posy of daffodils.
Sunday 25th March is Palm Sunday when palm crosses are distributed to the congregation. During Holy Week there will be services every day at St Barts. On Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th there will be a Compline Service at 7.00pm. Thursday 29th is Maundy Thursday and there will be a Eucharist and Foot Washing at 7.00pm. On Good Friday, a service of reflection will be held between 2.00pm and 3.00pm. Members of the congregation will have an input in all of these services.
St Barts’ great service of celebration will be at 10.45am on Easter Sunday. The church will be decorated by the church’s dedicated team of flower arrangers with Easter lilies and spring flowers. You will be made welcome at any one or all of these services.
Fundraising for the church roof appeal continues and on Friday 23rd there will be a collection in the foyer of Tesco Maltby. A big thank you to them for supporting the appeal.
Coffee and company is thriving on Tuesday mornings between 10.00am and 12.00pm. Anyone is welcome to join in. The members have devised a programme which involves activities as well as a free refreshment and chat. A happy and blessed Easter to all.
