RotherHop rides again at Triple Threat

Old-time dancing is back in fashion at a Wickersley dance studio, where swing stalwarts RotherHop have found a new home. Lindy hop lessons started last month at the purpose-built Triple Threat Studios on Nine Trees Trading Estate, Morthen Road.

Teacher-organisers Dave Doyle and Krissy Moore took a dance career break last year, when other obligations demanded more of their time. But the husband-and-wife pair are happy to be welcoming boppers old and new back to the dance floor.

Dave said: “It’s a real joy to be teaching Lindy hop in Rotherham again. Triple Threat is an ideal venue and our new crop of dancers have brought bags of energy with them.
“Swing dancing is such a fun, sociable, accessible activity for adults of all ages, we just couldn’t keep it to ourselves any longer!”

The Monday night sessions cost just £5.00 per person and are pitched at beginners, or those wanting to work on the fundamentals of good dancing. Participants need not bring a partner — only comfortable clothes and flat shoes are required to get started.

Dave is also warming up to offer sessions in SwingTrain, which offers fun Zumba-like workouts inspired by the Swing Era, at Triple Threat Studios. Studio-owner Rebecca Noble said she was “so excited”, to see dozens of dancers get into swing each week.

Novices are very much welcome to join the ten-week rolling beginners’ course at any time. Visit, find RotherHop on Facebook, email or call 07894 440519 for more information.
