Join us in Rotherham town centre to say thank you to Rotherham volunteers! Voluntary Action Rotherham, supported by Rotherham Together Partnership, have a calendar of events planned for Volunteer Month in June and the Volunteer Walk on Thursday 6th June is the main event. Groups and charities from across Rotherham will come together again to undertake the short walk from Rotherham Minster around the town centre, to raise the profile of volunteering and say thank you to Rotherham volunteers who give up their time to support our local charities and services. Last year’s event was attended by over 200 people. The event is supported by; colleagues from RMBC, elected members and the mayor; all of whom want to join in saying thank you to Rotherham people who give up their time to support others.
The Volunteer Walk will take place on Thursday 6th June, starting at Rotherham Minster (12.00pm registration, walking at 1.00pm approx.). The short walk through the town centre will take approximately 45 minutes, before arriving back at the Minister for coffee and cake, prize draw and guest speakers, from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.
Kerry McGrath (Volunteering and Social Action Coordinator, VAR) said: “It’s so important that we recognise the efforts of Rotherham volunteers who help to keep our charities and services running, The Volunteer Walk is one way that we can say thank you.”
The event is open to Rotherham volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations from across all sectors. Whether you want to attend on your own, or with a group of colleagues, you will be very welcome! You will receive a free goody bag and ticket for the prize draw.
