Rotherham Talking Newspaper provides a weekly service of 80 minutes of local news from the Rotherham Advertiser and a 60-minute magazine in digital format. Originally intended for the blind and visually impaired, it extended its reach two years ago to include the elderly and those of any age who had suffered debilitating conditions such as stroke and motor neurone disease. From humble beginnings, the broadcast is now circulated by CDs, tape, memory sticks and flash drive.

They have a well-equipped recording studio and in further rooms the recordings are transferred to a variety of media ready for circulation by Freepost to all their clients. None of this would be possible without volunteers on the technical side and those willing to find and read articles for the magazine.

Following the visit of Rotarian Trish Lister to the Studio in Rosehill Park, the Club have committed to contributing to the magazine.

Christmas is coming

Santa’s sleigh is being prepared for the annual Christmas celebrations.

Eco Greenhouse at Coleridge Primary

From the original pile of wood and bags of screws, the greenhouse being created at Coleridge Primary has progressed well. The merry band of Rotarians have enjoyed a great spirit of fellowship and achievement, despite the cold and often damp conditions.

The school have provided over 90% of the two-litre plastic bottles but there is still a way to go and so the Club ask everyone to be on the lookout.

They plan to have the project complete in time for spring planting and school staff are committed to helping the children make full use of their new facility.
