A combination of new attractions and well-loved favourites will be on offer at this year’s Rotherham Show, held in the award-winning Clifton Park on the 8th and 9th September. Jam-packed with entertainment and activities the show promises to be a great weekend for all the family.
Music will feature heavily on the Rotherham Show menu this year, with an eclectic line-up from local talent to internationally known musicians for a weekend of fantastic live performances. Saturday sees At the Arcade, Tom Masters, Papa Legba’s and the Fab4 take to the stage and Sunday brings jazz and folk with Salutation, Julie Felix, Leeds City Stompers and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys.
A new Retro Area will offer more live music over the two days including The Mersey Belles, The Rodeos Duo, Moonshiners and Brandon Walton and an eclectic mix of stalls from retro and handcrafted goods to tasty treats.
A dedicated children’s area will include entertainment from The Maniax, a hilarious fast moving show with lots of tricks and gags, magic and silliness from Banana Brains Fun Show. Circus Avago will also be at the show all weekend with exciting interactive activities including tightrope, juggling, plate spinning, diabolo, unicycles, clowning, stilt walking and more! Plus, there will be space-hoppers, giant games including Jenga, Connect Four and more!
The Vikings will be joining us for the first time this year as Sudrjorvik Living History Group set up camp in Clifton Park and show visitors what life would have been like in South Yorkshire 1,000 years ago.
Evenings at Rotherham Show this year include a one-off celebratory performance of Brassed Off on Friday 7th September to open the weekend. Following their sell-out week at Rotherham Civic Theatre in April, Rotherham Rep and Rotherham Town Brass Band will be bringing this gritty, funny and poignant drama to the park.
Proms in the Park will also be returning for its third year offering a wonderful evening of musical talent from Rotherham Symphony Orchestra, including Soloist Charlotte Kenny.
As well as the great new attractions at this year’s show you will still find the Vintage Vehicle Rally, Yorkshire’s Strongest Man, Food Court, Fairground and not forgetting the Horticultural Show which includes a special class ‘Bake Rotherham’ where people are being asked to bake a well-know or favourite local landmark — Horticultural Show programmes can be picked up from The Garden Building at Clifton Park, or requested by calling 01709 822453.
