Rotherham Metro Ramblers walks for May 2025

Rotherham Metro Ramblers is a friendly and sociable local walking group who have organised walks on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Walks range from five miles to about 10 miles in a wide area from local Rotherham walks to ones in the Peak District, and sometimes in North Nottinghamshire, and East and West Yorkshire. They also have an annual coach ramble, and an organised walking holiday.

Here is a summary of the walks in May 2025:

  • Saturday 3rd May: Five Churches walk – Anston, Todwick, Harthill, Wales, Thorpe Salvin, 10 miles
  • Wednesday 7th May: Rotherham Ring Route stage 5 – Firbeck, Roche Abbey, Maltby, 11 miles
  • Saturday 10th May: two walks
    Wickersley Walking Festival, leisurely walk, ancient and modern Silverwood Colliery, bluebell wood and re-wilding of colliery, 5.5 miles
    Beauchief, Norton Woodseats, Graves Park, part of Sheffield Round Walk, 7.8 miles
  • Wednesday 14th May: Ogston Reservoir – Brackenfield, Wessington, Wheatcroft, 10.5 miles
  • Saturday 17th May: Ogston Reservoir Ashover Circular, 9 miles
  • Wednesday 21st May: Whiston Bluebell Woods – Whiston to Ulley village via Ulley Reservoir, 7 miles
  • Saturday 24th May: two walks
    Wickersley Walking Festival, local and historical interest in Wickersley village, 5.5 miles
    Aston Ulley circular, walk starts and ends at Royal Oak pub, Ulley, 8.5 miles
  • Wednesday 28th May: Micklebring, Firsby, Ravenfield Ponds circular from Grazing Hearts pub, 8.75 miles
  • Saturday 31st May: Maltby – Roche Abbey circular via Hooton Levitt and Brookhouse, 8 miles
