The search is on for Rotherham’s best gardens, with the annual Rotherham in Bloom Garden Competition now open for entries.

The borough’s beloved competition is open both to Council and non-Council tenants, meaning any Rotherham resident can apply.

The competition has different categories including best garden, best pots, planters and hanging baskets, best wildlife or sustainable garden, and best young gardener.

Each adult category will have two winners – one Council and one non-Council tenant – each winning a £100 Love2Shop voucher, with two runners up in each category both receiving a £50 Love2Shop voucher.

The children’s category will have one first place prize winning a £100 Love2Shop voucher and one runner-up prize of a £50 Love2Shop voucher.

The competition is held in partnership with Rotherham Federation and supported by Fostering Rotherham and the Council’s housing partners Mears and EQUANS. Due to the success of the previous years, this year’s competition will again be in a digital format.

Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Allen, said: “Rotherham in Bloom is a fantastic way to highlight the positive difference residents are making not only in their neighbourhood, but to care for local wildlife and our environment. I am really looking forward to seeing the entries that are submitted, and hopefully will get some ideas I can incorporate into my own garden!”

To enter the competition, upload a minimum of three photographs of your garden, along with a few words about what your garden means to you, at www.rotherham.gov.uk/housing/garden-competition.

The closing date for entries is Sunday 11th August. Winners will be announced at the end of August.
