North Leverton Windmill

North Leverton Windmill, near Retford, will officially open their new visitor centre over the 2021 Heritage Open Days Weekend on 11th and 12th September – known locally as their ‘Family Fun Weekend’ which includes ‘Mill Fest’ and ‘Wheels at the Windmill’.
Parking and entrance to mill yard is free over – there will be a small admission charge for adults to the main field to help cover increased costs this year – but this gets you raffle tickets to the grand raffle and live music. The windmill will be open, but numbers will be limited so if you want to guarantee to be able to ‘go up’ the windmill please book in advance. For those who are less mobile, they will live stream video from the upper floors to the visitor centre.
In addition to the windmill, there will be tea, coffee and cakes, make your own pizza, crepes, burgers, fudge and, of course, ice cream and the Bees Knees Bar. There will be plenty to keep the kids entertained, craft stalls, lots of wheels, and Ruby and her other feathered friends… and the ever-popular Fun Dog Show. The event opens at 12.00pm both days and more details can be found on Facebook @northlevertonwindmill or www.north-leverton-windmill.co.uk.
All proceeds from the event go to the upkeep of North Leverton Windmill, a registered charity, so that future generations can enjoy it as much as we do. The windmill is now open every Saturday from 11.00am to 3.00pm and at other times by arrangement – call 01427 880254 or 07968 969424.
