A vibrant new mural celebrating the rich heritage of Wickersley has been unveiled at Wickersley Library and Neighbourhood Hub. The striking artwork features the village’s name illustrated through detailed scenes depicting well-known landmarks, green spaces and moments of community life. Each letter contains a hand-painted snapshot of the area, set against a colourful border of wildflowers that brings the whole piece to life.
Designed to reflect both the history and natural beauty of Wickersley, the mural provides a bright and welcoming focal point for visitors and residents alike. The piece was created by a talented mother and daughter team who share a long-standing passion for the arts. Sue, an art teacher at Bramley Sunnyside Juniors for nearly 19 years, has dedicated her career to nurturing children’s creativity. Her experience includes delivering the Arts Award Explore qualification, providing CPD training for teachers across Rotherham and leading therapeutic art sessions for young people.
Her daughter Nicole is an established artist who holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a master’s degree in education, specialising in the role of art within the education system. With a background in professional pet portraiture, Nicole is known for her highly detailed and sentimental style, which has earned her a strong reputation for thoughtful and expressive work.
