Head to Micklebring in the run up to Christmas to admire the village’s unusual Christmas decorations, created by resident Paul Keeton.
You will also spot some popping up in Braithwell this year.
What started in 2020 as a small project to sit on the wall in front of his home, has grown and in 2023 Paul teamed up with the parish council and turned a disused bus stop into a nativity scene complete with illuminations.
Paul said: “In 2020 I used some gas bottles that had been fly-tipped on the outskirts of our village along with some decommissioned central heating expansion vessels, fire extinguishers, and disposable helium bottles to make eight Christmas decorations to sit on my wall.
“My neighbours asked if I would make one for them to have outside their house and supplied me with a whole host of different bottles and vessels. In 2021 I made 11 more, then nine more in 2022 and 18 more in 2023. I have made seven so far for 2024.”
So far all of Paul’s creations have been displayed along Greaves Sike Lane, Micklebring S66 7RR. Outside of the festive season, Paul has also been behind decorations which stand at the Grazing Harts throughout the year.
