On 22nd April, Sara Smith and Charlotte Richardson held their first Charity Fundraiser at the Ruddle Centre in Braithwell.
The night, in memory of Sara’s Mum Sue who sadly lost her battle with cancer last year, was entitled ‘Mama Sue’s Memory Do’ – and was there to celebrate her life, as well as raise vital money for Rotherham Hospice, who cared for Sue in her final weeks.
The event attracted 118 people, who celebrated with a performance from drag artist Dixie, a raffle draw and an auction of some fantastic prizes donated from local businesses, followed by a disco by local DJ Tony Potts AKA ’54Beats’.
The event was sponsored by local business Richardsons Bathroom Interiors which allowed for every penny taken to go directly to the Hospice. The Memory Do raised just over £4,000.
Sara and Charlotte hope to make this an annual event, continuing to remember Sue and raising money for the Hospice.
