Maltby Miners Welfare Band has been busy working with local communities to remember the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
In May the band entertained at the Rotherham Hospice fundraiser 40s Tea Dance. There were some fabulous 40s outfits and dancing made for a great afternoon!
1st June saw the band at Kiveton Park and Wales Community Hall for a 40s concert, in conjunction with the KPW history society’s D-Day exhibition.
On 6th June the band was at Laughton Village Hall for a D-Day event which culminated in the lighting of the Beacon and the Last Post played by principal cornet Jonathan Chambers.
One the same day, at the lighting of the Beacon in Maltby, the Last Post was performed by Molly Cadieu, principal cornet of the Training Band.
