With just a few weeks to go until the big day, homeless charity Shiloh has launched its Christmas fundraising appeal, inspired by the community it supports and a timeless festive song. Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas has been the soundtrack to December celebrations for 30 years, inspiring countless covers, singalongs and dancefloor moments. Now, the song has also inspired the name and message behind Shiloh’s 2025 Christmas appeal, All I Want for Christmas…
For many people, Christmas is a joyful and sociable season filled with parties, Christmas jumper days and ‘Secret Santa’ exchanges. But for those experiencing homelessness, it can be a lonely and difficult time of year. Shiloh’s All I Want for Christmas… campaign aims to remind people that the season often means something far simpler for those without a home in Rotherham. Sarah Smart, Chief Executive of Shiloh, said: “Our guests have told us that all they want for Christmas is a stable home, a more secure life or to know what family feels like. Their simple aspirations shaped our appeal this year. The truth is that any one of us could find ourselves in a similar situation if our circumstances changed.
“For our guests, Christmas isn’t about lavish gifts or celebrations; it’s about survival. For some, the only Christmas gift they’ll receive will be from us. “By supporting our appeal, you can help us give someone experiencing homelessness hope for the future and help us continue our life-changing work in 2026 and beyond.” Based on Station Road in Rotherham, Shiloh provides food, clothing, showers, laundry facilities, access to technology and one-to-one support for adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
