South Yorkshire Housing Association have been chosen to run WorkingWin — a NHS approved employment trial throughout South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw. Anyone over 18 with a mental or physical health condition, who is looking for work or who is in work but struggling with their condition can apply to be part of the trial. All meetings will take place at a time and place local to the applicant and there are no costs for those taking part.
There are two sides to the trial; one side involves using existing services to find work including Jobcentres and other organisations. The other side of the trial will receive support from a work coach who will provide individual support for up to 12 months.
A number of GPs in Rotherham are supporting the WorkingWin trial, by recruiting patients, including Dr Matthew Capehorn, GP, from Clifton Medical Centre who said: “I see patients regularly who I can imagine would benefit from this trial and am delighted to be part of it. I believe that many of my patients for whom this trial would be relevant would really benefit from the additional support and the positivity that being part of a healthy workplace can bring.”
