Community Dementia Workshops

by | 18 March 2019 | Rotherham, Support Group

Nearly 4,000 people have dementia across Rotherham Borough. There is increasing reliance upon family and friends for support. With this in mind, Home Instead Senior Care is now establishing free Rotherham Community Dementia Workshops, as part of their commitment to help end social isolation and improve the lives of older local people.
The new events are expertly led by Antoinette, the company’s care trainer, and are broadly based upon their successful in-house City and Guilds in Dementia which gives staff the knowledge and tools necessary to help them meet the individual needs of each person they support with dementia in order to make a real difference to their lives.

The workshops are designed for anyone supporting loved ones or friends with dementia. They are friendly, informal, pithy and practical and last just an hour. A copy of Home Instead’s free guide for those caring for a loved one ‘Helping Families Cope’ is available to any attendees who would like one. There is also always plenty of time made available for questions and follow up.

Home Instead Senior Care Rotherham are currently seeking to work with organisations and social groups across the borough who can help them bring the benefits of the workshops to the largest possible number of local people. You might be a GP surgery or a retired person’s organisation, a regular coffee morning or women’s group. If you feel it may be helpful in any way, please just let either myself or Antoinette know. If you would like to attend a Rotherham Community Dementia Workshops or if your organisation or group is interested in hosting one or otherwise engaging in one please contact Antoinette on 01709 837170 or email her on
