Collaboration is the way forward

At Empowering Men Initiative (EMI) CIC, they know that no single service can meet every need. That’s why collaboration isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

Supporting male survivors of domestic abuse means recognising the complexity of trauma. It’s not one size fits all. Through partnerships across Rotherham and beyond, they’re building a network that reflects this truth.
Their connection with VA Rotherham has made peer support possible, giving men a space to share, listen and heal together. With Mental Health Matters, they offer one-to-one sessions that meet survivors where they are, emotionally and practically. Their partnership with the Naturewatch Foundation helps raise awareness about animals who suffer alongside their owners, bringing a wider lens to the impact of abuse.

Through collaboration with Clarity For Men CIC, they’re creating pathways for men to move through trauma and toward a brighter, more hopeful future. Their work complements that of EMI CIC and together they’re showing that healing is possible when services truly listen and respond.

These connections are more than logistics. They’re learning opportunities. Many of their partners have told EMI CIC they didn’t realise how many men are affected by domestic abuse. Through working together, they’re seeing the reality and helping to challenge the outdated idea that men should just “man up”.

Empowering Men Initiative want to redefine that phrase. To them, “man up” means speaking up and speaking out. It means knowing that vulnerability is not weakness, it’s courage.

Without collaboration, none of this would be possible. And as EMI CIC continue to grow, they’ll keep building bridges because healing happens in community, not isolation.

Together, they’re changing the narrative. One partnership at a time.
