Brampton-based Sid Bailey Care Home held a ‘wear red’ party to celebrate Age UK Rotherham’s 40th anniversary and to raise funds for the charity.
Residents and guests embraced the spirit of the circus-themed event by dressing in red. The party began with a magic show by magician Magic Merlin, and the entertainment continued as Elvis impersonator Monsoon Mike had everyone dancing and singing along to some of the King’s most popular hits.
A raffle and tombola raised £130 for Age UK Rotherham, supporting their ongoing work to assist older people in the borough. The charity’s CEO, Barbara Dinsdale, who attended the celebration, commented: “What a brilliant event, it was so lovely to see everyone having a great time and we’re grateful to the staff at Sid Bailey Care Home for making it a success, and to the residents and guests for taking part.”
The party is the first in a series of events being organised by care homes across Rotherham this year to mark Age UK Rotherham’s 40th anniversary, with more being added regularly. Anyone interested in hosting an event is encouraged to get in touch by emailing info@ageukrotherham.org.uk.
With 42 residents, Sid Bailey Care Home is a friendly and sociable community. Although the home already offers a full and varied calendar of events and activities, staff decided to organise a special celebration in honour of Age UK Rotherham’s milestone anniversary.
Care Home General Manager, Victoria Alder, said: “We were delighted to host this special event to mark such a meaningful milestone for Age UK Rotherham. Our residents, community members, and staff had a fantastic time coming together in support of a charity that does so much for older people in our community. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the entertainment, getting involved, and most importantly, helping raise funds for such a great cause – we can’t wait to support Age UK Rotherham again in the future.”
