A community champion in Wickersley has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s New Year’s Honours list. Jane Shore is a dedicated member of the community plays an integral role in the Forget-Me-Not Memory Café and Wickersley Methodist Church. She set up the dementia cafe, alongside her late husband Philip, in 2017 and it is still offering support to those living with the illness.
Her work with Wickersley Methodist Church has involved helping to secure funding for a new kitchen and working to support the Messy Church and she has also helped to set up the ‘senior youth club’.
