Voglia d’Italia (the Italian Society for South Yorks and North Notts) presents ‘Travellers in the Apennines at their next meeting. Professor Emeritus Nick Havely, University of York, follows the modern long-distance walking trail of the ‘Great Apennine Excursion’, moving back and forth in time from the Middle Ages to World War Two and from the journeys of pilgrims, merchants and tourists to those of soldiers, partisans and poets, revealing links to writers, including Dante, Montaigne, Goethe, Shelley and Stendhal.
