Coast and Castles Newcastle to Edinburgh Charity Bike Ride
In early September Rotherham Sitwell Rotarians Tom Knight and Steve Burns cycled from Newcastle to Edinburgh to raise vital funds for Shiloh and Rotherham Cancer Care Centre. Tom Knight is a trustee of Shiloh, a Rotherham charity that offers support to adults who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Steve Burns is a trustee of Rotherham Cancer Care Centre, which offers support to people living with cancer and their nearest relative or carer.
Together they cycled 101 miles on all sorts of surfaces including tarmac roads, gravel tracks and earth paths and in doing so raised the magnificent sum of £2,304 for their chosen charities. Thank you to everyone who supported them with donations.
Pig Racing Evening at Sitwell Park Golf Club
At the beginning of October four Rotherham organisations, Rotary, Round Table, 41 Club and Tangent combined together to organise a social evening, Pig Racing, to raise money for a project at Rotherham Opportunities College. This will buy equipment and train teachers to enable adults of between 16 and 21 with learning difficulties to produce their own podcasts, blogs and radio shows, giving them life-long skills to help them in the future. The evening was well attended and great fun and £2,255 was raised for Rotherham Opportunities College.
Thanks to everyone who helped and supported the event.
