Another District Grant
The Rotary Foundation has just approved funding for Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club’s project at Swinton Lock Activity Centre for its ‘Men in Sheds’ initiative. Together with a donation through the Club’s Framework for Giving, a District Rotary Foundation Grant will enable the Centre to extend the working space for this new initiative.
Currently, up to 25 men aged between 18- and 76-years-old meet twice a week to learn new craft skills such as woodworking and blacksmithing. Those attending have a range of physical and mental health issues but are benefitting from companionship and a sense of purpose.
Informal meal at Sitwell Golf Club
A mixture of Rotarians and friends met up to have a meal with Vanu Burton and her daughter Sapna, their first visit to Rotherham since Rotarian Vinod Burton’s funeral.
Speaker meetings
At the Club’s next Speaker Meeting, Ann Ogley will be telling members about her recent trek in Peru. The following month Catriona Bremer will be giving a talk on Wakefield Prison.
Christmas collection
Rotherham Sitwell Rotary have received a cheque from Wortley Rotary as a thank you for helping with their Christmas float.
Another delivery to Crossroads Charity Shop
The Club have sent another delivery of goods to Crossroads for fundraising in their Charity Coffee Shop in Rotherham. They are happy to accept bric-a-brac and unwanted gifts.
Many thanks for members’ contributions so far; Crossroads are very grateful.
