Rotherham Pride 2024

by | 1 June 2024 | Community Event, Rother

June is officially Pride month when we remember everyone who has fought for LGBTQIA+ rights over the years whilst celebrating the diversity and uniqueness of our amazing community. After a five-year break, on Saturday 8th June 2024 Rotherham Pride will lead a town centre takeover which will see All Saints Square and Minster Gardens transformed into the biggest and most fabulous Pride event that the town has ever seen. And it’s all free!

Enjoy day of family fun and enjoy an electric atmosphere whilst watching the line-up of amazing acts on the mobile festival stage. The day will be hosted by two fabulous drag queens: Rotherham-born turned Blackpool Superstar Miss Delia Deck and the latest winner of Calderdale Pride’s very own talent show, the trashy yet terrific queen Trash.

The main stage will host some incredible, well-known acts including Pride Superstar Smashby, who’s coming back to the first Pride that he ever headlined, and hometown local lad Starstruck, who has been named The Ultimate Olly Alexander Tribute, having performed recently with Olly himself. To add to this amazing line-up, there will also be performances by Pride Prince Josh from JL Productions and the one and only former lead singer of Ultimate Party Band Black Lace, Dene Michael.

What about the local community I hear you ask? The organisers have arranged a range of equally amazing local acts too. Recently, Rotherham Dance Centre Studio 1 and The Thompson Dance Studios have been celebrated as two of Rotherham’s top three dance schools and they will be showcasing the talents of their amazing students on main stage at Pride. There will also be entertainment from Ellie Etoil’s Cabaret and Rotherham’s own Syndicate of Sass and, in case this isn’t enough, don’t miss live performances from young people from around the borough who will wow you with their singing, dancing and performing. Finally, if the two amazing drag queen hosts aren’t enough, you can laugh along with the lively trio ‘2 Gays and a Pair of Tits’, who are ready to show you what Rotherham Queens can really do.

The whole day is based around being inclusive and will contain entertainment and stalls for all the family. The organisers will also be hosting interactive workshops, some run by the young people of Rotherham, alongside a range of stalls from information and support to food, drink, cakes and bakes to jewellery, hand made goods and, of course, your Pride essentials.

It’s set to be an amazing day and they will even be going live on air with sponsor Rother Radio throughout the day.

Please go along and enjoy this fantastic family fun day out. Why not give them a like and follow on Facebook ‘Rotherham Pride’, Instagram ‘Rotherham_Pride’ TikTok ‘Rotherham.Pride’ and you can find their very own social ‘Pride Pals’ on Facebook too.
