When was the last time you felt genuinely proud to be from Rotherham? Not defensive. Not making excuses. Just flat-out proud. That feeling is exactly what Rotherham Day is here to create. On Friday 18th September 2026, the whole town will come together to celebrate everything that makes this place brilliant. No tickets. No barriers. Just Rotherham people doing what they do best, showing up for each other.
It started with one person, Scott Thorpe, someone born and raised here who loves this town and decided to do something about it. No council funding, no agenda, just a genuine belief that Rotherham deserves its moment. You might already be going to the Rotherham Show the week before, and you absolutely should, but Rotherham Day is something different. The Show is a brilliant event you attend. Rotherham Day is something you’re part of. It isn’t happening in one field, it’s happening across the whole town, in your street, your school, your local pub, your community. September 2026 belongs to Rotherham.
The plans reflect that. Over 75 schools taking part, 64 businesses signed up and counting. Monuments lit up, streets decorated in red. A 10K Wentworth Run, free boxing and sport sessions, and Places For Leisure activity wristbands enabling free access. Winthrop Gardens are hosting a sponsored walk and afternoon tea, an Awards Event to celebrate the people who make Rotherham great, and Chantry Brewery have created an official Rotherham Day beer. This is just the beginning, and organisers need everyone’s help to spread the word!
All you need to do is wear red, get involved however feels right, and be proud of where you’re from. The whole town is getting involved. Don’t be the only one who didn’t.
