RANSS (Rotherham Adult Neurodiverse Support Service), based in Rawmarsh, runs an allotment project that relies on grants and donations to enhance and support the neurodiverse community in Rotherham.
As the project continues to expand, RANSS recently reached out to the community for support. Biffa (www.biffa.co.uk) generously donated a quantity of compost to enrich the soil for growing produce, asking only that RANSS arrange transportation from their site. RKM Grab Hire and Haulage Ltd (www.rkmgrab.co.uk) kindly stepped in to provide the transport. They collected and delivered 12.5 tons of compost from Biffa to the RANSS allotment. RANSS expressed deep gratitude to both Biffa and RKM for their generosity and collaborative spirit. RANSS Activities Co-ordinator, Mike Horne, described it as ‘a fantastic donation and a huge boost to the project’.
Thanks to this support, RANSS is looking forward to a successful growing season, continuing its positive impact on the lives of the individuals it serves.
Earlier this year, RANSS also received a grant from Neighbourly’s GoGive Winter Essentials Fund. This has contributed to essential running costs and ongoing tasks such as building a shelter, improving site drainage, and constructing pathways – support for which RANSS is extremely thankful.
The RANSS Allotment Project (RAP) is a thriving hub for adults with autism and / or ADHD, including those awaiting diagnosis. RAP currently boasts four polytunnels, 19 raised beds, a greenhouse, three beehives, and several shelters. The project encourages adults to work together in a safe environment – growing produce, developing new skills, and socialising as part of a supportive community.
RANSS is currently appealing for donations of wood, gravel, mulch, tools, training, paving, or support with the development of a new wildlife and sensory area.
