Open Arms Community Support Hub is a new initiative where people can access cost of living support in a welcoming and safe space. The regular fortnightly drop-in sessions are held throughout Rotherham in 10 locations.
Funded through its UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation, this is being delivered in partnership by Rotherham Council, Rotherham Federation of Communities (Rotherfed), Citizens Advice Rotherham and District, Laser Credit Union, and Voluntary Action Rotherham.
They offer free cost-of-living support, including: face-to-face appointments with debt advisors from Citizens Advice Rotherham and District; and mobile membership to LASER credit union – a not-for-profit social enterprise, established over 20 years ago, to benefit the community of the Borough of Rotherham by offering smart savings and affordable loans as well as practical advice on money management, energy savings hints and tips and improving digital skills.
Over the summer holidays and into the autumn they have planned a programme of community get-together events in Canklow, Dalton, Ferham, Masbrough and Springwell. Some of the themed events include Budget Brunch Bonanza, All the Fun of The Fair, Oh We Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside, and Picnic Pleasures – and more!
The sessions will have activities, refreshments and giveaways as well as providing an opportunity to access support if required.
