Make a difference in your community: volunteer with Rotherfed

by | 13 December 2025 | Community Focus, Local Experiences, Rother, Social Group

Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to your community while developing new skills, boosting confidence and meeting new people. At Rotherfed, volunteers play a vital role in shaping services, projects and funding applications. Their time, ideas and enthusiasm are invaluable, and the organisation couldn’t achieve its goals without them.

A variety of exciting volunteer opportunities are available, all aimed at improving the wellbeing of local communities. Training and support are provided for every role, and volunteers’ time and skills are always valued.

Volunteer opportunities

  • Trustees – help lead and govern Rotherfed, shaping its vision and direction.
  • Tenant Representatives – be a voice for council tenants, representing their concerns in official meetings.
  • Group Leaders – run and manage activity groups, helping to build community connections.
  • Project Champions – support ongoing projects and initiatives with your time and expertise.
  • Event Volunteers – contribute through one-off events such as community clean-ups and local activities.

Spotlight on digital volunteers

Rotherfed’s team of dedicated digital volunteers deliver both regular and one-off sessions across Rotherham, open to anyone who needs support. If you’re confident using devices or browsing the internet, you could make a lasting difference to someone struggling to access essential online services. No prior teaching experience is required – full training and guidance are provided. One learner explained how the support had changed their life: “The service is wonderful, a real lifeline if you don’t have family members to help with this kind of support. I now feel confident enough to buy a new device with more modern features and plan to book further sessions once it arrives.”

If you’re over 18 and passionate about making a positive impact in your community, Rotherfed welcomes you to get involved. Flexible opportunities are available to suit your schedule and interests.
