As rehearsals restart after the summer break, Ryton Chorale is now under the direction of Reuben Apostol. A local musician in his final year at university, Reuben has been offered the post with support from Jack Pickford to help launch his conducting career.
The autumn and Christmas concerts are being combined in a performance at St John’s Church, Overend Road, Worksop, on Saturday 12th December. The first half will open with Vuelie from Frozen and include choruses from Vivaldi’s Gloria and Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium. The second half will offer an eclectic mix of Christmas music, with support from members of Whitwell Brass Band.
Tickets cost £12.00, while accompanied children under 16 attend free. Tickets are available from choir members, by calling 07743 975225 or through the website at www.rytonchorale.org.uk.
Come and Sing
Anyone who would like to learn more about the choir, and perhaps take part in the concert, is invited to a Come and Sing event at Holy Family School, Netherton Road, on Monday 5th October at the usual rehearsal time of 7.30pm.
New members are always welcome, and this informal evening is an opportunity to meet the choir and join in as much as desired. There is no pressure: simply come along and see what the group does. Booking is preferred but not essential.
