The legendary Chet Baker, born in Oklahoma in 1929 and who died in Amsterdam in 1988, was a jazz trumpeter and vocalist renowned for his innovations in cool jazz, earning him the nickname ‘Prince of Cool’. The Simon Paterson Quartet will bring their homage to Chet Baker to Ordsall on Friday 7th November at 7.30pm, when they take to the stage at Ordsall Parish Hall to open the 2025-2026 season of Live & Local shows.
Simon, on bass and vocals, will be joined by Thorn on trumpet, Paul on piano, and Stevie on percussion to complete the line-up. For jazz enthusiasts, this is a rare opportunity to enjoy top-quality live jazz at a local venue. Tickets are £16.00, which includes a hot meal during the interval, and can be obtained from Peter and Shirley on 07951 253343 or 01777 706433, or from Alison on 01777 700220.
The hall is located on Church Lane, DN22 7TU, where parking is limited. There will also be a licensed bar and raffle. The Live & Local season continues in January with Flat World in Concert, a quintet performing music and songs from Eastern Europe.
