Bassetlaw Indoor Bowling Club

My wife and I are retired and found a great activity in the winter months last year and think that many other people may be interested as well. Here in Worksop there is a great facility for Indoor Bowling at the North Notts Arena. With seven rinks to bowl on, they cater for leisure bowling and league games. It’s inexpensive at just £2.00 per hour and for new bowlers they can hire the bowls and shoes. New bowlers are very much welcomed and can be given help to get started. If you have seen the indoor bowling on TV and thought you would like to try it, you’re in luck.
It’s a very friendly place and the Arena also has snooker, five-a-side football, keep fit and other sporting activities. There is a café and bar to enjoy before or after activities, or simply watching others play.

The new season starts around September, but many people bowl all year round. You can play with friends and up to eight players can play together. If you take to it, you can join one of the leagues with regular weekly games. It’s also a great way to meet new people.

Sometimes when we retire it’s great at first but after a while it can get a bit boring. So why not try something new?
People often say “I couldn’t do that”, but after trying it wish they had taken it up earlier. The age range is very wide from teens to the eighties. The top national bowlers are aged between 18 and 50. Young people who are not into very physical sports may be surprised at what bowling has to offer. It’s also a great sport to take up in retirement. If you already play outdoor bowls and pack up in the winter — it’s a good way to keep bowling in the cold wet months.
While bowling once was in decline, it’s now becoming more popular and the arena is a great local facility in which to take up a new interest. You will be made most welcome.
